The Rashbi Hilula in Meron
The experience
The hilula of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in Meron is a defining moment of Lag BaOmer. Continuing his family tradition, the Boyan Rebbe lights the bonfire before dawn on the roof of the Rashbi tomb. His lighting opens the annual celebrations in Meron. At the ceremony he was joined by the Rebbes of Karlin-Stolin and Lelov and by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Sites. Firelight and prayer create a powerful meeting of tradition and community.
The production
An event at a sensitive site demands precise planning and continuous coordination. We plan and coordinate operations, infrastructure, suppliers, crowd movement and the many stakeholders involved, with a focus on order, safety and a rapid on-site response. The work behind the scenes supports the traditional ceremony as it unfolds before a large audience in challenging conditions.
